Obituary for Roy Frank Rice Jr.
Roy Frank “Skip” Rice, Jr., 70, passed away August 4, 2016.
Skip was born February 22, 1946 in Buncombe County to the late Roy Frank Rice, Sr. and Myrtle Rice. He has resided in Weaverville and Swannanoa, and most recently Fountain Inn, SC. Skip loved wood working and playing golf. He worked at Deal Buick for many years.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Rebecca Sue Travis.
Skip is survived by his sons, William Roy Rice (Tracie), Jason Ryan Rice (Sherri), and Keith Taylor Rice (Amy); his 9 grandchildren; his brother, Jimmy Rice (Gaynell); his nephews, Tim and Daniel Rice; his longtime partner in life, Betty Rickman; her children, Bobby Rickman, Jr., Cecil Rickman (Nancy), and Valerie Reese (Todd); her 5 grandchildren; and his dog, Lucy.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 7, 2016, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Harwood Home for Funerals in Black Mountain. A graveside service for immediate family and close friends will immediately follow at Mount Sheba Baptist Church Cemetery in Weaverville with Dr. Joseph Yelton officiating.
Flowers are acceptable and appreciated, but those desiring to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to consider the Laurels of GreenTree Ridge, 70 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
