Obituary for Everett W. Stephenson

Everett W.  Stephenson
Everett W. Stephenson, 91, of Black Mountain, NC passed away November 14, 2016.
Everett was born January 20, 1925 in Buncombe County to the late Bascombe and Georgia Stephenson.
Everett joined the US Navy in 1943 and served 4 years in WWII and 2 years in the Korean Conflict, and retired from the US Naval Reserves in 1985 after 40 years of service. He worked for the Black Mountain Post Office for 30 years and retired in 1981 as Assistant Post Master.
In addition to his parents, Everett is preceded in death by his son, Jerry W. Stephenson; sisters, Betty Stephenson and Ann Hendley; and brother, Bill Stephenson.
Everett is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary B. (Josie) Stephenson; sons, James E. (Jim) Stephenson and wife, Kim Denise Stephenson of Lilburn, GA, and Joey B. Stephenson and wife, Susan M. Stephenson of Black Mountain, NC; grandchildren, Brandy S. Sullivan of Las Vegas and Tyler J. Stephenson of Lilburn, GA; and great grandson, Connor Rohan Sullivan.
Everett was a member of First Baptist Church, Black Mountain.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, November 18, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
Burial will be at a later date at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
