Joseph “Joe” Pertillor, 89, of Black Mountain passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017.
Mr. Pertillor was born January 5, 1928 in Buncombe County to the late Joseph and Bessie Daugherty Pertillor. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a longtime member of Thomas AME Zion Chapel. Joe retired after 30 years of service with the Black Mountain Center.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Pertillor; son, Joseph Pertillor, Jr.; and sister, Jessie Mae Dillingham.
He is survived by his son, Mitch Pertillor of Black Mountain; brother, Theodore Pete Pertillor; and grandson, Matthew Pertillor.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Thomas AME Zion Chapel, Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 1:00pm with Rev. David Rankin officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
