Obituary for Mary R. Hemphill

Mary R.  Hemphill
Mary R. Hemphill, 80, of Black Mountain passed away Monday, February 13, 2017 at her home.
Mrs. Hemphill was born February 6, 1937 in Buncombe County to the late JR and Elsie Howington Rutledge.
Mary retired from Kearfott. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Black Mountain and attended Tabernacle United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Joe Hemphill, Jr.
Not having any children of their own, they had numerous “adopted” children who were very special to them.
Mary is survived by her brother, Jay Rutledge of Black Mountain; sister-in-law, Virginia Lynn Hemphill Wolter of Woodinville, WA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and family relations.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 1:00pm at First Baptist Church, Black Mountain.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Park.
Flowers are acceptable and appreciated. Memorial contributions may be made to Swannanoa Valley Museum, PO Box 306, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
