Carole Spring Jennings, age 80, died unexpectedly May 24 at her home of 13 years in Laurel Ridge, Black Mountain, NC.
She was born December 21, 1936 to George and Elizabeth (Hoffmeister) Seidel in Baltimore, MD. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gerry Seidel.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Uel Duane Jennings, their sons (and wives): Don (Linda) Jennings of Fredericksburg, VA; Keith (Cathy) Jennings of Hixon, TN; granddaughters (and husbands): Christina (Jennings) Lo (Jimmy Lo), of Manassas, VA; Brianne (Jennings) Hager (Travis Hager), Chattanooga, and one great grandchild, Bryson Hager.
Carole is a graduate of P. S. Dupont High School, Wilmington, DE; Dickinson College, (BS Math), and was a nurse and vet tech. She and Duane were married June 14, 1958 in Wilmington, DE. She devoted her married life as helpmate to her husband, was a loving mother, and a Christian helper to many. She volunteered in the emergency room at Mission Hospital and for Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry. She was gregarious, spontaneous, fun-loving, loved all animals and shared her kind heart to all. She enjoyed gardening, needle work, hiking, and attending to those in need. She and Duane were an Elder team and taught Sunday School at City Church, Chattanooga, TN; attended King of Glory, Swannanoa, and Christ Community Church, Montreat.
All services will be Saturday, May 27, at Harwood Home for Funerals, 208 West State Street, Black Mountain. Visitation will be at noon, followed by the funeral at 1:00 pm with Rev. Richard White presiding.
