Obituary for Carmen Glenda O'Malley (Smathers)

Carmen Glenda  O'Malley (Smathers)
Carmen Glenda Smathers O’Malley, 61, of Asheville, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017.
Carmen was born August 23, 1955 in Haywood County. She received a bachelor degree in Spanish from UNC Asheville. She was a certified gemologist. Carmen attended West Asheville Baptist Church.
Carmen is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ellen Smathers; and husband, Charles O’Malley.
She is survived by her father, Bob Smathers; sister, Debra Smathers Martin of Swannanoa; fiancé, Dave Albertson; nephews, Andres Martin and Julian Martin; and niece, Amanda Martin Arrowood.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to consider Owen High School Dance Department, 99 Lake Eden Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
