Obituary for David Calvert Galbreath

David Calvert Galbreath
Abbot Bishop David Calvert Galbreath, 60 of Swannanoa passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014 from injuries sustained in an ATV accident.
David was born January 31, 1954 in Jacksonville, FL to Estelle Galbreath and the late William “Bill” Galbreath. He married his wife, Reverend Gerry Galbreath on December 14, 1982. He was a Mason, 32nd Degree, Master Craftsman in Scottish and York Rite and an Abbot of the Apostolic Celtic Faith; he was an active founding member of SPAR (Springfield Preservation and Restoration) in Jacksonville, FL; Vice President of the Homeowner’s Association of Alpine Mountain, Volunteer at Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry. David was an Inspector for the state of Florida for Paramutual Wagering; Police Reserve for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, owner of Digital Security Systems of NE Florida for over 25 years.
David had a passion for reading and psychological and theological debates; and “putting up” with his wife. He was known for his unusual dry humor, factual knowledge of any and everything.
In addition to his mother and his wife, he is survived by his sons, William “Bill” Galbreath (Tabitha) and Master Sergeant, USMC Brian Galbreath (Candice); grandchildren, Chloe, Sarah, Grady, and Trevor Galbreath; sisters in law, Barbara (Wayne) Blackford and Ann Graham; brother in law, Richard Grady; brother and sister in law, Bill and Carolyn Grady; mother in law, Mary Grady; nieces and nephew, Lauri and Ken McEachern, Kathleen and Dale Groves, Beth Ann Graham, Robert and Kethlin Graham, Jessica Grady, and various great nieces and nephews. He was the Godfather of Melissa Davison and Courtney Smith Brady; Pets, Sampson, Delilah, and Conan; and special friends, Bruce and Sally Holbrook, Ronald and Nancy Shelton, Tom and Nita Dyess, Mike Davison, Marti Cummins, St. Andrew’s Celtic Church, St. John’s Lutheran Church and extended family in Jacksonville, FL.
His sons always said, “Never ask dad what time it is, because you can expect at least a two hour lecture of the history of time and how to build a clock.”
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 11:00am in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals with Rite Reverend Ronald W. Shelton, Jr. of St. Andrew’s Apostolic Celtic Church officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home.
