Obituary for Patricia Glover King

Patricia Glover King
Patricia Glover King, 67, passed away suddenly in her Black Mountain home on June 30, 2014. She was born December 16, 1946, in Asheville and grew up in Black Mountain. Patty was a very devoted Christian who studied the Bible, prayed daily, and has now been called home to the Lord.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, James and Beatrice Grant Glover, of Black Mountain.
She is survived by her aunt, Mary Weston, of Hendersonville; several cousins; and loving former husband, Doug King, of Charlotte, who was her best friend and protector for 37 years.
She was a graduate of Owen High School, and USC of Columbia with a BA in education. Patty then moved to Charleston, S.C., where she taught in public elementary schools for several years.
Then she fulfilled her dream of entrepreneurship by owning and operating Belle France Dress Shop in downtown Charleston.
In 1999, she returned to Black Mountain to be the sole caregiver for her mother until she passed away in 2005. After that, Patty turned her compassion to rescuing stray dogs and cats who often became like an adopted family. Patty then reentered the workforce and was currently employed with Belk at Biltmore Square Mall.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held Friday, July 11, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals, 208 West State Street, Black Mountain. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. A private burial will follow in the family cemetery near Hendersonville.
Flowers are acceptable and appreciated. Those desiring to make a memorial contribution may be made to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, 31 Glendale Avenue, Asheville, N.C., 28803 or Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry, P.O. Box 235, Black Mountain, N.C., 28711.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to her neighbors and friends, Stanley and Tammy Willet, who generously helped Patty at her home with her beloved animals.
