Obituary for Mildred Banks (Chapman)

Mildred Banks, 97, of Swannanoa, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017.
Mrs. Banks was born April 2, 1920 in McDowell County to the late Luther and Ethel Davenport Chapman. She was the last charter member of Christian Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jeff B. Banks; grandsons, Michael E. Wyatt and Jason E. Banks; great granddaughter, Meliah; sisters, Nora C. Binkley and Edna Biggerstaff; and brothers, Willis, Cliff, Hobert, and Van Harold Chapman.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Reel of Marion, NC; sons, Dean Banks (Mary Sue) of Caldwell, OH, Don Banks (Maryann) and Steve Banks (Debbie) all of Asheville; brother, Ellis Chapman; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Christian Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Queen Officiating. Burial will be in Sky View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Harwood Home for Funerals.
