My mother loved Aunt Midge so much. She even named me after her. I spent so much time at Aunt Midge's house while growing up. Peggy, who was 4 years older than me, always felt like a sister. Both of them taught me so much.
I had always lived a city life. But at Aunt Midge's house, they had gardens, cows to be milked and hung the clothes out on the line. It was really life in the country during the 1950's. I remember being in the kitchen so many times with Aunt Midge as a youngster; making biscuits, watching her skim milk, churning butter, and most of all, making cakes. One time we were making a cake and she said to me, "Too many hands in the cake is not good", or something like that. Anyway, I don't know what we did, but that time something did not go right with the cake. She did so much sewing and made me dresses.
Another thing about living with them, we would go to church every Sunday. Uncle Jeff and my cousins would play guitars in the living room and sing gospel songs. Christian Creek Baptist Church was always their place of worship. It was very much a part of my life as a youngster while staying with them.
So many fond memories!!
