Yancey Eli Jones, Sr., 85, of Black Mountain, passed away June 17, 2014.
Mr. Jones was born May 14, 1929 in Henderson County to the late Robert and Tempie Capps Jones.
Yancey worked at Morgans Manufacturing for over 20 years, then he retired from Ethan Allen after 20 years. He was a veteran of the US Army and the National Guard. Yancey was a member of Black Mountain Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Jones; granddaughter, Crystal M. Jones; sister, Lassie Jones; brothers, William, James and Robert E. Jones; and brother-in-law, Wade Shook.
Yancey is survived by his loving wife, Helen Turner Jones; daughter, Teresa Parker (Gary); sons, Terry Jones, Mark Jones, and Yancey Eli Jones, Jr. (Rose); sister, Evelyn Shook; grandchildren, Kayla Parker, Kristin Parker, Kim Michel, Candy Chambers, Scott Erwin, Chandous Eli Jones, and Jeremy Erwin; and great grandchildren, William Michel, Maddie Michel, James Eli Chambers, Destiny L. Chambers, Alana Erwin, Kayelea Erwin, and Ella Rose Erwin.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 12:30 pm in the Chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals with Reverend Leonard Cole officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the funeral home.
